Statement from the coordinator:

From a young age, I was making movies (or at least my interpretation of them). My first project was a film by the name of “Thunder Chicken”. Filmed on a combination of cameras produced from the years 1995-2008, it had virtually no plot, characters, or cinematography of any kind. It was brilliant. Making these nonsensical “movies” was a highlight of my childhood, and since the day of the “Thunder Chicken” premiere, I have been dragging everyone in my life into this hobby that has brought me so much joy. As I grew older, I found it to be a pastime of many children to find a lens and use it to create their idea of a film. Into my high school years, I continued this enterprise. I found a group of friends who found as much enjoyment in the activity as I did, and in the years that followed we took every opportunity to film, act, and write films of varying quality.  As a college student, I have participated in a number of film festivals with friends here on campus, many of whom are film majors. Despite not being one myself, I have found a great level of enjoyment in them. Creating something is rewarding in itself, but to make a project that you get to watch in a movie theater atmosphere is an incredibly fun experience.

The Gowanda Hollywood Theater would now like to offer that same opportunity to you. Local aspiring filmmakers now have the chance to see their creative ideas turned into films to be viewed by the community at the first ever Gowanda Film Festival!

I cannot begin to express my excitement for this event. I await it with overwhelming anticipation and eagerly hope to see what the community can create.

Best of luck
